NT: Add A Market Data Feed To NinjaTrader

Since NinjaTrader is not a broker, it does not provide its own data feed.  Data feeds give live and historical price data for trading products. You must have an active data feed connection in order to use the Apex strategy.

For those who want to trade a sim account, you have two options.  If you want to trade using a daily or longer time frame, you have access to free end-of-day data through Kinetick.  This data feed connection comes preinstalled with Ninja and you do not have to manually add it.  You can skip the rest of this tutuorial.  If you want to do any sort of intraday trading, you will need a live data feed with historical data.  You have two options.  The first option is to fund an account with a participating broker so that you can get the data for free.  This option is recommended if you plan to switch to live trading later.  You open an account with the broker you would like to trade with in the future, you use their data feed while trading on a sim account, then you switch to live trading when you are ready.  The data will be fed through the connection with that broker.  The broker connection setup is in the previous tutorial.  The second option is to sign up for an account with a dedicated data feed provider. If you will be trading Nadex Markets, this is the option for you.  A list of dedicated data feed providers can be found below.  Kinetick is the preferred market data provider.

If you want to trade live on a brokerage account with a NinjaTrader connection, your broker will provide you the necessary data feed.  All brokers provide a live feed and most provide a historical feed as well.  If no historical feed is provided, you will also have to sign up with a dedicated data feed provider. A list of dedicated data feed providers can be found below.  Kinetick is the preferred market data provider.
